Nemanja Matic would welcome a chance to return to Chelsea in order to prove his worth - but is only willing to leave Benfica for the west London club having also been linked with Liverpool.
Matic joined Chelsea in 2009 but couldn't force his way into the first-team and eventually joined Benfica as part of the deal that saw David Luiz head in the opposite direction in 2011.
Since then the 25-year-old has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge thanks to some fine performances in Portugal.
Chelsea were reportedly attempting to land Matic in the summer transfer window but were put off by his price-tag.
Should Chelsea make another move in January, they may face competition from the likes of Liverpool, who according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, are keen on taking the rangy midfielder to Anfield.
However speaking to Inside Futbol the ex-Chelsea ace said he was happy to stay with Benfica this season, but would certainly be tempted if the Blues came calling.
When asked about the Liverpool link, he said: "To be honest I want to stay in Lisbon for another year.
"But of course, if someone like Jose Mourinho wants to bring me back to London, that would be a chance to prove that I can play in the Premier League.”
