Arsenal are targeting a move for Genoa full back Sime Vrsaljko, according to The Mirror.
The 21-year-old Croatia international has been earmarked as a long term replacement for current star right-back Bacary Sagna, who is in the final year of his contract.
Vrsajiko, who made his international debut at the age of the 19, only moved to Serie A side Genoa in July but has already attracted interest from Inter Milan as well as the Premier League side.
The former Dinamo Zagreb player is seen as an ideal candidate to replace the 30-year-old Sagna, should the Frenchman opt to leave the Emirates at the end of the season.
Sagna is likely to be offered lucrative moves to both the MLS and Middle East come January and could see a move abroad rather more appealing than an extension to his Gunners career.
Arsene Wenger's side are already short of defensive depth with England under-21 international Carl Jenkinson the only other recognised right-back at the club.
However, Vjsajiko is likely to remain in Italy for the rest of the season in a bid to secure his place in Croatia's 2014 World Cup squad, should they qualify.
But Arsenal could move for the defender in the summer if he continues to impress.
