Arsenal in talks to sign £10m Liverpool target in January

Published Add your comment

Arsenal are in talks with Liverpool target Jorginho, and could complete a £10million move for the Hellas Verona midfielder in January, according to the Daily Star.

The 21-year-old Brazilian-born Italian was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League during the summer, however a transfer to Merseyside failed to materialise.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has now stepped up his interest in the talented youngster, after he made an impressive start to the 2013/14 campaign, in his debut season in Serie 'A', netting three goals in eight appearances.

Jorginho's fine form is also said to have attracted admiring glances from Fiorentina and Juventus, but Arsenal are very much leading Liverpool - and the other suitors - in the race for the Italy U21 international's signature.

According to reports in Italy, Jorginho's representatives were in London on Monday to speak with Arsenal over a proposed move to England when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.

Brendan Rodgers will be disappointed if he misses out on another long-term Anfield target, but will already have his eyes on alternative midfield options to strengthen his squad in January.
