Former Newcastle United star Nolberto Solano has applied for the managers job at League Two side Bury, according to reports.
Bury sacked former Leeds boss Kevin Blackwell yesterday after his only managed to steer the club to victory in two of the club's first 11 games.
This comes after the club were relegated from League One last season.
And now the Peruvian Solano could be the man to turn their fortunes around, if given the chance.
Solano, who played over 250 games for Newcastle, was a coach at non-league side Newcastle Benfield, before taking his first management role with native club side Universitario de Deportes in June 2012.
However, he was relived of his duties only six months later despite achieving his goal of preventing the club being relegated from the Peruvian Premier League.
The former Villa and Boca Juniors man is said to still be living in the north-east after finishing his playing career at Bury's League Two rivals Hartlepool last year.
If Solano was to be appointed, he would join fellow former Premier League star James Beattie in League Two management - with the ex-Southampton man currently in charge of bottom of the league Accrington Stanley.
