Despite having secured Australia a place in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, the Football Federation of Australia has elected to part ways with former Fenerbahce coach Holger Osieck after a series of unflattering results.

The 65-year-old ended his three-year reign in rather embarrassing style after consecutive 6-0 losses against France and Brazil, raising speculation that it is time for Australia to appoint one of the world's best.

With the biggest tournament on the planet only eight months away, the Socceroos need a new manager to stamp his authority on the squad as quickly as possible.
