Five Premier League stars that need a new contract before January (3)

Ashley Cole

At 32, Cole is still arguably the best left-back in world football, and will surely be offered a new contract to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho knew what a coup it was signing him from Arsenal in 2006, and won't want to lose him on a free transfer in the summer.

2. Frank Lampard - the evergreen England midfielder still has plenty to offer, and will still be able to offer so much for Chelsea if he is kept on next season.

3. John Terry - Another fans' favourite whose impressive early season form might just earn him a 12-month extension.

4. Mark Schwarzer - would be a useful back-up again next season. Future might depend on what happens with Thibaut Courtois.

5. Samuel Eto'o - His excessive wages have proved little value for money since his free transfer move from Russia. Will probably be released.

6. Henrique Hilario - At 37, this will almost certainly be his last year in west London.
