Germany star, Mesut Ozil, hopes England can qualify for next summer's World Cup, and tweeted a message of support to prove it.

Arsenal's £42.4 million record signing is already sure of his place at the tournament, with Germany sealing their spot in Brazil with a 3-0 win over Republic of Ireland last Friday.

Now Ozil, who only arrived in England at the beginning of September, has tweeted a message of support to Roy Hodgson's men, as well as Turkey.

Ozil, celebrating his 25th birthday today, tweeted: "crossing my fingers for my english and turkish friends tonight. hopefully you guys will make it. #brazil2014 #worldcupqualifiers M1Ö."

The tweet will go down well with England fans who have been mesmerised by the former Real Madrid man since he arrived in North London.

England know a win tonight (Tuesday) against Poland will guarantee their qualification for Brazil 2014, although they could still qualify if they lost tonight, depending on results elsewhere.

The tweet also included Turkey due to the midfield schemer's long line of German-Turkish heritage.

The Turks face a tougher route to Brazil, they face Holland tonight knowing they have to match Romania's result against Estonia in order to seal a play-off place for the summer spectacle in South America.
