Steven Gerrard is quite literally one of a kind. The 33-year-old has over 100 caps for England, over 600 appearances for Liverpool - 400 of them as captain - and is just one goal away from his 100th in the Premier League for Liverpool.
To date, he is remarkably the only player to have scored in an FA Cup Final, a League Cup Final, a UEFA Cup Final and a Champions League Final.
Widely known to Liverpool fans as Stevie G, he was born in Whiston, Merseyside on the 30th May, 1980. Gerrard was born and raised in Liverpool, and his iconic status with the Reds was secured in 2013 when he was voted first by fans in the '100 Players Who Shook The Kop' vote.
In 2009, Zinedine Zidane said he believe Gerrard was the best footballer in the world, this followed on from previous honours, in 2005 Gerrard he was voted UEFA Club Footballer of the Year and won the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award.
Whilst his international career has failed to deliver silverware, for Liverpool he's helped them lift all major club trophies with the exception of the Premier League.
In 2006, Gerrard published his autobiography, 'Gerrard: My Autobiography'. He closed the book with the dedication "I play for Jon-Paul." Jon-Paul Gilhooley was Gerrard's cousin, tragically killed in the 1989 Hillsborough disaster.
