World Cup qualifying: Best goals of the night

Published Add your comment

It's a pretty hectic night of World Cup qualifying action all around the globe - and that means only one thing; plenty of good goals. No, wait, I mean football nerds working out permutations.

But aside from those with a nose for maths huddling over their calculators, there actually have been some sublime goals scored this evening - and there is plenty of time left tonight for some more to fly in.

We'll be keeping this page updated with the best goals that go in across the night so make sure you keep on checking back. You never know, England may even score a half decent one between them if we're lucky...

Franck Ribery v Finland

France look like missing out on an automatic qualifying spot but they'll be confident of making it through the play-offs with Ribery in this sort of form. He hit this pearler to make it 1-0 in Paris.

Nani v Luxembourg

This was a beautiful team effort from Portugal who put Luxembourg to the sword earlier tonight. Moutinho's assist was sublime, Nani's finish was just as good.

Ravel Morrison v Lithuania U21

Not technically a World Cup qualifier but a goal so good it can't be ignored, Ravel Morrison showed his brilliant dribbling skills as England ran riot. All five of their goals were pretty good but Morrison's strike can be seen 41 seconds into the video below.

Granit Xhaka v Slovenia

Not only did this goal give Switzerland a win over Slovenia but it also ensured Iceland remain in with a chance of becoming the smallest ever country to make it to the World Cup.

Wesley Sneijder v Turkey

Holland are another team who have seemingly decided to open up now that they have qualified, and their second of the night was a particularly well-worked goal finished off by Sneijder.

More to follow as the night progresses....
