Timothy Bradley progressed to his 31st straight victory by edging a split decision against Juan Manuel Marquez.

It was another America versus Mexico superfight that 2013 put forth as a treat to all boxing fans.

In 2012, both men were victorious against boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, which meant a recipe for a vicious but exciting clash.

Bradley. 30, who is ten years Marquez's junior, used his speed effectively to move in and out of range allowing him to pick his shots with accuracy while not receiving any punishment from the experienced Marquez.

Despite the result, Marquez showed his worth as a world-class fighter by making sure Bradley did not have it all his own way. However, as the last round ticked on he fell victim to a Bradley left hook that almost sent him crashing to the canvas, but showed the heart to end the bout upright and on his feet.

Following his win, Bradley was quoted by Sky Sports: "That win was my ticket to the boxing Hall of Fame. I beat a great champion. He couldn't touch me. I gave him a boxing lesson."

However on the other side of the ring was an unconvinced Marquez who claimed he had been "robbed six times in my career".
