Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is confident that the Gunners can sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema in the January transfer window, according to The Sun.
The British newspaper reports that Wenger believes a fee of around £30m will be enough to tempt Real Madrid to part company with their senior striker, with Los Blancos rumoured to be keen on signing AS Monaco hitman Radamel Falcao, who took La Liga by storm with Atletico Madrid.
Benzema, who joined Real Madrid in 2009 from Lyon, has only managed to score two goals in eight La Liga appearances this season - and his place in the starting line-up is under pressure from young Spanish striker Alvaro Morata.
Wenger is a long-term admirer of Benzema and needs another striker to provide competition for Olivier Giroud - Benzema's France teammate.
And the 25-year-old may be more inclined to join the Gunners knowing that his former Real Madrid teammate Mesut Ozil is currently shining in the Premier League with the Gunners.
