Last night was a special night for English football.

England secured their place at the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil after defeating Poland 2-0 at Wembley.

The performances from The Three Lions over the last two games have brought renewed hope to the nation, and enabled new stars to shine.

Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge, Everton's Leighton Baines and Tottenham's Andros Townsend were three of the men to really put their names forward for starting roles come next summer.

The performances from these starlets means that the pressure will be heaped on their English rivals looking to stake a claim for their place in the 23-man squad.

With this in mind, January could throw up a few surprise transfers.

Players may have to seek first team football away from their parent clubs in order to make an impression on the their national team managers.
