Today the UFC announced that UFC Fight Night 34 would be headlined by Jake Ellenberger and former Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Tarec Saffidiene.

MMAJunkie have reported that the two are in verbal agreement to face off.

This fight is virtually a must win for Jake 'The Juggernaut' Ellenberger.

His most recent loss was against up an coming fighter Rory McDonal, where Ellenberger was unable to surpass McDonald's long reach and was neutralized.

However, with McDonald a training partner of champion Georges St. Pierre, and the pair refusing to fight, the loss has not set 'The Juggernaut' back too badly.

With rumours of GSP possibly retiring after his upcoming title defence against Johnny Hendrix at UFC 167, Ellenberger can put himself right in the mix.

Saffidiene on the other hand is very much in the title mix.

His final victory in Strikeforce saw him grab the title off Nate Marquart and make a statement to his peers.

The Belgian is riding a four-fight win streak, beating Brock Larson, Scott Smith, and Roger Bowling along with Marquart.

A win for the former Strikeforce 170lbs champion gives him strong claims to face off in a number one contenders fight - possibly with Carlos Condit.
