England name squad for autumn internationals

England head coach Stuart Lancaster has named his squad for the upcoming autumn internationals.

Three uncapped players, Henry Trinder of Gloucester, Luther Burrell of Northampton, and Saracens' Joel Tomkins are included in the 34 man squad.

The centres are also joined by Exeter Chiefs flanker Tom Johnson, who has been promoted from the Saxons.

However Manu Tuilagi, Brad Barritt and Tom Croft will miss the whole of the series, due to injury. Tigers forward Croft has been ruled out for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage.

And Lancaster says he is pleased with the squad he has chosen.

He said: "We are pleased with the form of the squad."

"Inevitably there have been some injuries and there is still a big European weekend ahead.

"But injures always create opportunities and we are pleased to call up Tom Johnson, Joel Tomkins, Henry Trinder and Luther Burrell into the senior squad.

"Luther joins us as injury cover so it will be great for him to come in and put a marker down in what is going to be a competitive selection leading into the Australia game."

England kick-off the first of three matches against Australia on November 2, a week later they take on Argentina, and finish against New Zealand at Twickenham on November 16.
