Liverpool youngster Harry Wilson had two reasons to celebrate this week. After making his surprise international debut for Wales, the 16-year-old winger also earned his grandad a £100,000 windfall, reports the London Metro.

Wilson became the youngest ever player to represent any of the home nations at senior level, when he was introduced by Chris Coleman as a second-half substitute in the 1-1 draw with Belgium on Tuesday night.

The Liverpool academy starlet was called up to play in Wales' final two World Cup qualifiers after impressing in the U17 team.

He was an unused substitute in the 1-0 victory over Macedonia on Friday, but helped his grandad, Peter Edwards - who tipped his grandson to play for Wales when he was just 18 months old - claim the cash prize, when he replaced Hal Robson Kanu in the 87th minute last night.

At 16 years and 207 days the Wrexham-born man beat Gareth Bale's record by 108 days, to add to the burgeoning reputation already afforded to the Anfield scholar, who has been tipped for a bright future with Brendan Rodgers's side.

And at 34 years of age, another former Liverpool man, Craig Bellamy's international career ended, with his final appearance for Wales finishing alongside Wilson, who is 18 years his junior.
