Five desperately needed Premier League transfers (4)

Arsenal - Centre-forward

Arsene Wenger was rightly lauded for pulling off the record signing of Mesut Özil on transfer deadline day, but he will be worried about his centre-forward area.

Olivier Giroud has started the season brilliantly but has only inexperienced and injury prone Yaya Sanogo, Nicklas Bendtner and youth product Chuba Akpom to replace him should he suffer injury - Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott are injured.

Arsenal don't only need a new striker to address a lack of numbers but also to provide Giroud with some viable competition, otherwise there is a danger of him becoming complacent if he knows he is always going to play.

Perhaps someone a bit different in style to the France international to provide some variety to the forward line would be useful.
