Chelsea boss must make final decision over striker

With zero Premier League goals between them so far this season, Chelsea's strikers have certainly struggled under Jose Mourinho.

However, the strikers at Stamford Bridge never really know if they are coming or going. Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto'o and most recently Demba Ba have all been handed the chance to shine at certain stages already this season, but not one of them have cemented their place down in the side.

So, perhaps it's now up to Mourinho to give his full backing to one of them and make one his main-man.

It had at one stage looked like that man would be Eto'o, after he started three consecutive games for the Blues - but in recent weeks, he has slipped back down the pecking order.

Don't get me wrong, it's important to rotate on occasions,  but it will only benefit the side if they have a constant figure spearheading the attack.

Look at the last time Chelsea had complete faith in one of their strikers. Didier Drogba went down as a Blues legend, becoming crucial in Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League success.

Other top clubs clearly have strikers that they trust.

Look at Chelsea's rivals: Manchester United have Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie as their main-men, and they won the title last season.

Arsenal have Olivier Giroud and Liverpool have Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge - these two clubs currently occupy the top two places in the league.

And as Mourinho only plays one up top, he only needs one main striker.

I guess his problem is that he doesn't really know which one to trust. But, he has to make his mind up and give one of them six, seven or even eight games in a row to really start showing their true form.

If he shows faith and belief in one of his striker, then perhaps they will start repaying him with goals.

Torres and Ba have proved in the past that they can find the net and there's no reason why they can't again.

And, at his peak, Samuel Eto'o was a world beater - capable of terrorising any defence that tried to stand in his way. Perhaps once he gets up to speed in the Premier League he will be used as the number one striker at the Bridge.

But it's questionable just how much longer Mourinho can continue to chop and change things.

The long-term option may well be Romelu Lukaku, but who should take centre stage this season?

Chelsea are getting on fairly well without a goalscoring striker, but if they had a man constantly leading the line and getting on the scoresheet on a regular basis, then they could get even better.
