Galatasaray plan Sneijder exchange with Manchester United

Published 7 Comments

Turkish champions Galatasaray are considering an offer to exchange Wesley Sneijder with Nani in the January transfer window, reports the Daily Express.

The Manchester United winger has reportedly been mooted as a replacement for Dutch star Wesley Sneijder, who has also been linked with a move to Chelsea.

Sneijder has been told by Holland coach to take advantage of Jose Mourinho's interest and sign for Chelsea to boost his chances of making the World Cup squad.

Louis Van Gaal told talkSPORT: "I know Chelsea and Jose Mourinho want Sneijder.

"In my opinion, if possible Sneijder should leave Galatasaray and join Chelsea.

"Playing under Mourinho again would improve his performances and help him regain his form for the national team."

However, Galatasaray, who could also bid up to £13m for Nani should Sneijder join Chelsea, are ready to offer the Dutchman in a straight swap deal for the Portuguese international.

The signing of the Dutch international would represent a coup for David Moyes, after his predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson failed to convince the star of the 2010 World Cup to join the ranks at Old Trafford following the tournament.

It was also reported that Galatasaray received an 'indirect bid' from Old Trafford in the closing stages of the summer transfer window but rejected it out of hand.

The Daily Express also suggests that Stamford Bridge hero Didier Drogba is actively campaigning for the Turkish side to bring in fresh stars and Nani is believed to be good enough to satisfy the veteran striker.

Sneijder will have to leave if a bid for Nani is to be successful given Turkish football's rule of only having 10 international players registered in the squad.
