As expected, England will not be seeded for the World Cup finals in Brazil next summer, although Roy Hodgson's side have climbed to 10th in the latest FIFA World Rankings.

England confirmed their place in the 2014 competition with victory over Poland at Wembley on Tuesday, and have been rewarded for their recent good form with a seven-place climb.

However, England have not been placed in pot one for the World Cup draw, with Brazil, Spain, Germany, Argentina, Colombia, Belgium, Switzerland and Netherlands or Uruguay ranked as seeds for the tournament.

Uruguay's place in Brazil is yet to be confirmed but, if they beat Jordan in their playoff, will clinch they final seeded position. If they lose, then the Netherlands will be among the seeds in pot one.

Spain's position at the summit of the rankings remains unchallenged and unchanged, but Germany have now claimed second-place after they leapfrogged Argentina. Switzerland (seventh) have joined England as the other new entry in the top 10.

The draw for the World Cup will take place on December 6, with all qualifying completed by November 28.
