New York Knicks fans, take a deep breath and exhale slowly and make sure you're seated before I continue.

Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony has claimed that he wants to enter free agency. Anthony told the New York Observer in an interview quoted by ESPN:  "I want to be a free agent. I think everybody in the NBA dreams to be a free agent at least one time in their career.

"It’s like you have an evaluation period, you know. It’s like if I’m in the gym and I have all the coaches, all the owners, all the GMs come into the gym and just evaluate everything I do. So yes, I want that experience".

Anthony apparently wanting to enter the free agency doesn't necessarily mean that he wants to leave New York. Last time i checked, a player can opt out of his contract and re-sign for a larger amount of money. But Melo entering the free agency period could very well mean the end of his time in New York.

As soon as a star like Anthony goes on the market, you can be sure that most NBA teams are going to be after him, trying to sign him and get their team a ring. If somehow the Los Angeles Lakers are able to keep Kobe Bryant and sign Carmelo Anthony, that may be as controversial as LeBron James leaving Cleveland to sign with Miami.

If Anthony ends up putting on the purple and gold jersey, he might be the key to Bryant reaching his sixth ring. Now, Melo going to a good team may make them great but with so much talent around the league, it doesn't mean he would get a ring. He has to be smart when choosing the right team.

Here is a list of which teams I think would be best for Melo:

Dallas Mavericks- Dirk Nowitzki may opt out of his contract or could come cheaper, which gives cap space for Melo's big contract.

Miami Heat- Big 'if' on this one. If one of the so-called 'big three' leave, Melo would be a perfect fit.

Philadelphia 76ers- If the Sixers don't pick up young gun Andrew Wiggins, Melo could fill the void.

LA Lakers- This may be difficult because Bryant might have to take a pay cut that he previously said he wouldn't.

Anthony is going to attract a lot of interest from a lot of different teams and whoever is able to pick him up will be very lucky. And hopefully for Melo, they will be able to win a championship.
