You've seen David Beckham do it, and Xabi Alonso has been known to pull it off too, but now non-league star Laurie Wilson has scored from closes to the halfway line.
Wilson's effort in England's Northern League Premier Division was fit to grace any league in the world, yet it couldn't prevent his Ilkeston FC side losing to Blyth Spartans.
Though Wilson's strike may not be remembered in quite the same way that Beckham's famous hit is, it was arguably a better goal.
When the opposition's goalkeeper sends a looping clearance high into the sky a crowd of players challenge to win the aerial battle but no-one can get a firm connection and the ball bobbles in front of Wilson just a few yards into Blyth's half.
What happens next is a moment of instinctive brilliance as Wilson smashes the bouncing ball, sending it looping over a stranded goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
