Adil Rami is set for a January move to Italian giants AC Milan following a bust up with Valencia coach Miroslav Djukic.

The towering French defender had been linked with a move to Premier League sides Arsenal and Manchester City but will instead make the switch to the San Siro.

27-year-old Rami cannot complete the move until the January transfer window opens but is already on his way to Italy having been given permission to train with his new club ahead of the move.

A statement released on the official Valencia website read: "Valencia CF and AC Milan have reached a full agreement for the transfer of the player Adil Rami. Until the market opens, Rami has permission to train with AC Milan."

The French international has made just four appearances for Los Che this season, including the 3-0 home defeat to Swansea in the Europa League where Rami lasted just 10 minutes before being sent off.

A lack of games has seen Rami lose his place in the France squad and as he cannot play for AC Milan until the deal becomes official in January, he's likely to miss out again when Didier Deschamps names his squad for next month's crucial World Cup qualifying play-off.
