Clint Malarchuk

The Ice Hockey star had his neck accidentally sliced by an opponent's skate in March 1989.

Malarchuk, who playing in goal for the Buffalo Sabres, was saved by his trainer - Jim Pizzutelli - who served as a medic in the Army.

Malarchuk amazingly came back to feature in the NHL the same season - despite his injury requiring 300 stitches.
