Roma have entered the race to sign wanted man Bafétimbi Gomis, according to Sky Sports.
The Lyon striker has been the subject of transfer speculation for the best part of a year now, but has remained with the Ligue 1 side.
Premier League side Newcastle United were interested in the France international in the summer, but a move never prospered.
Now it seems Gomis could be set to join forces with former Arsenal man Gervinho at Roma.
The forward, who has scored 50 league goals in 146 appearances for Lyon, is out of contract in the summer and will be free to speak to clubs in the new year.
However, Toon boss Alan Pardew may decide against bringing the Frenchman to St. James' Park after admitting this week that the club have too many foreign players.
This could allow the likes of Roma and Serie A rival Lazio to swoop for Gomis.
With France still in the running for a World Cup spot after qualifying for the play-off round, Gomis may force a move away from Lyon in January, in a bid to win his place his Didier Deschamp's national side.
