Samuel Eto'o

Football News

After bafflingly allowing powerful Belgian starlet Romelu Lukaku to join Premier League rivals Everton on a season-long loan deal, returning Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been left with a vastly underwhelming and misfiring trio of strikers.

Alongside Demba Ba and frequently criticised Spaniard Fernando Torres, Eto'o has proved an overwhelming disappointment at Stamford Bridge since his surprise move from troubled Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala towards the latter stages of the summer transfer window.

However, despite his poor beginning to life in West London, some of the barbs aimed at the veteran Cameroonian appear somewhat premature. True, Eto'o has looked utterly ineffective thus far but having spent two seasons out of the spotlight in Russia, it was always going to take a number of games for him to re-adapt to life back in a more high-profile league.
