October 17 represented eight years to the day since Thierry Henry surpassed the achievements of Ian Wright to stand alone as the record goalscorer in Arsenal's illustrious history.
Henry entered into a Champions League encounter with Sparta Prague on that date in 2005 knowing one goal was needed to equal Wright's tally of 185 for the Gunners, and two would be enough to break new ground.
The Frenchman duly completed his task, and went on to find the net a further 40 times for Arsenal before he was, somewhat surprisingly, sold to Barcelona in the summer of 2007.
A move to the MLS with the New York Red Bulls followed, but the schedule of the American season afforded him the opportunity to return to Arsenal in the winter of 2012 on a short-term loan deal.
Two winning goals in seven appearances for Arsenal, including one on his second debut, further added to his club tally, and Henry's record now stands at 228 strikes in 337 appearances for the Emirates Stadium outfit.
