Tottenham plan January move for £25m Arsenal target
Tottenham stepping up interest in Lazio playmaker Hernanes
The French report claims the Brazil international is now a transfer window priority for Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas, and he’s willing to use extra cash generated from the Gareth Bale transfer to make it happen.
A potential stumbling block is Arsenal’s interest though. The Gunners were believed to be leading the chase for the Lazio playmaker, with some reports suggesting Arsene Wenger is prepared to spend up to £25m in the January window.
And this latest report warns Spurs that they’re by no means the only club interested in the player. Inter Milan, Paris St Germain, Manchester City, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are all tracking developments and one offer could spark a bidding war for the Spurs target.
Lazio remain keen to tie him down to an extension, with his current contract set to expire at the end of next season. But his superb displays in the Europa League and Serie A have seen scouts head to Rome on a regular basis in recent months.
Tottenham are back in Premier League action this weekend when they travel to the West Midlands to take on Aston Villa. Arsenal host Norwich City at the Emirates Stadium.
