Galatasaray president Unal Aysal insists Manchester United and Chelsea transfer target Wesley Sneijder is not for sale.

As reported by Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the Dutchman is still very much part of Roberto Mancini’s plans in Istanbul. Sneijder had been strongly linked with both United and Chelsea following the arrival of the ex-Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini.

But Aysal has confirmed Sneijder still has an important role to play.

“We have no desire or claim to sell Sneijder,” said Aysal.

“Mancini has not had enough time to get to know the squad and does not want any player to leave.

“He [Sneijder] currently has a slight problem, but will recover to join our team [soon].”

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho worked with Sneijder at Inter Milan, and reports had claimed the Stamford Bridge manager was seeking a reunion in the January transfer window.

Manchester United have been long-term admirers of the Dutch international as well, and separate reports suggested United were weighing up a January move of their own for the ex-Real Madrid playmaker.

But it now seems Galatasaray are resolved to keeping hold of Sneijder, one of their most high profile players.
