Manchester United target Ivan Cavaleiro has been subject to a £2 million bid from an unnamed Italian club, according to reports cited by talkSPORT.

20-year-old Cavaleiro, who currently represents Primeira Liga giants Benfica, has been in impressive form of late for the club's second-string side and that was recognised with a place in the first-team squad.

Cavaleiro's exploits certainly appear not to have gone unnoticed, with Premier League champions Manchester United linked with a potential future move for the Portuguese U21 international.

United, who have struggled so far this season under the tutelage of new manager David Moyes and also missed out on a number of high-profile transfer targets during a difficult summer, could yet miss out on another player, however.

talkSPORT cite reports that believe forward Cavaleiro has been targeted by an Italian club - as of yet unnamed - who are said to have submitted a bid of £2 million for his services.

Benfica's immediate reaction to such a bid is unclear, but it is speculated that this is not likely to be enough to tempt them into selling such a young asset.
