Chelsea received a boost today when it was confirmed that defender Ashley Cole and midfielder Andre Schurrle will be in contention to face Schalke in Gelsenkirchen on Tuesday night.
The club's official website confirmed that the pair trained at Cobham on Monday morning.
Cole returns from a rib injury whilst Schurrle has recovered from a leg injury, picked up during international action in Germany's victory against Sweden.
The pair sat out of Chelsea's 4-1 win over Cardiff City on Saturday but are both available to play in Germany in a crucial Group E fixture in the UEFA Champions League.
Chelsea travel to Dusseldorf on the eve of this big tie, which see's Schalke lead the group, three points ahead of Jose Mourinho's side.
Mourinho will be back on the touchline for this game after being sent off at the weekend. He will take his side to Germany for the first time since the Blues won the Champions league final in Munich in 2012.
Cole was one of the players to have started in that final against Bayern Munich and will be aiming for a second Champions League winning medal this season.
