Liverpool youngster Andre Wisdom is set to be loaned out to Championship side Derby County, according to metro.co.uk.

The 20-year-old has seen his first-team opportunities limited with the arrivals of Kolo Toure and Mamadou Sakho, with Tiago Ilori also having joined in the summer transfer window.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen for Wisdom to gain more regular first-team experience and Steve McClaren's Rams appear to be the perfect fit, with their captain Shaun Barker still suffering from long-term injury problems.

Former England manager McClaren initiated the deal when he found out that Wisdom was available for loan and the England Under-21 defender is likely to stay with the East Midlands side until the end of the season.

He could potentially make his Rams debut at home to Birmingham City on Saturday.

Wisdom has made 22 appearances in total for the Reds, but only three have come this season so far - including one in the Capital One Cup.

His parent club have started the season in good form, though will be disappointed having only picked up a point against 10-man Newcastle.

Next up for the Reds is a home tie against West Bromwich Albion.
