Liverpool consider January move for AC Milan forward

Liverpool are considering a January move for AC Milan forward - and reported Manchester City target - Stephan El Shaarawy, reports talkSPORT.

Speculation continues to circulate that the Italy international will leave San Siro at the turn of the year, despite regular assurances from the player that he remains happy in Serie 'A'.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has been credited with an interest in bringing the 20-year-old to Anfield, and will rival long-term admirers Borussia Dortmund for El Shaarawy's signature.

Manuel Pellegrini is also believed to be monitoring the player's situation at Milan, as he too looks to strengthen his forward line at the Etihad Stadium when the transfer window reopens.

El Shaarawy netted 16 goals in 37 league games for Massimiliano Allegri's side last season, but has been restricted to just two appearances so far in 2013/14, the last of which coming on September 1 in the 3-1 win against Cagliari.

Manchester City have been watching the player closely for some time, but according to reports in Germany, it's Liverpool who will provide Jurgen Klopp with the stiffest competition for El Shaarawy's services in January.
