Chelsea and Arsenal target Nicolas Otamendi has become a January target for Russian giants Zenit St. Petersburg, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.

The Argentinian centre-back, who has been impressive for Porto over the last two seasons, is being linked with a number of high-profile clubs around Europe, with Zenit the latest to properly register an interest.

Ahead of the two sides' upcoming Champions League clash, it was revealed that Zenit have made €20million available for the purchase of Otamendi, though Porto do not want him to leave.

It is believed that Otamendi is a strong target for Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea, with Jose Mourinho particularly interested in bringing him to London to firm up his back line.

The 25-year-old has also attracted the attention of Barcelona, Napoli and AC Milan and so it could very well transpire that a bidding war is launched for his services in January.

The Argentina international has no stated his desire to leave Porto, but it is anticipated that he will move to pastures new if a lucrative offer comes in.
