David Moyes hopeful of Champions League win
The United manager has called on his team to make their home advantage count against Real Sociedad
Manchester United manager David Moyes has called on his squad to make home advantage count on Wednesday night as they take on Real Sociedad.
Despite a stuttering League campaign, Moyes' side have taken four points from their opening two Champions League games, and a win on Wednesday night would be a significant boost for their qualification hopes.
Speaking to reporters, Moyes stressed the importance of tomorrow night's game against Sociedad, who are currently bottom of the group.
"I feel this is an important one for us. If we could win this one, it would give us a strong position in the group. We have to go out there and take advantage of the home game and try to get a result.
"I hope it will go to plan. That's what we want to do to put us in a strong position early on," he added.
Despite Sociedad struggling both in the Champions League and domestically, Moyes has warned his players against complacency as they look to progress early on.
"Maybe they've not started the season how they would have liked but I know that they were unlucky to lose in the last minute against Bayer Leverkusen from a free-kick so they will be hoping to get themselves up and running.
"We have to make sure we do the job, be professional and try to take all the points in this game," Moyes said.
Morale is currently low at Old Trafford following their draw with Southampton at the weekend, and Moyes is already facing criticism over his long-term suitability for the job.
A win over Sociedad would go some way to silencing critics, but the Scot needs to see his team regularly picking up points in the Premier League if they are to turn their season around.
