Jean-Sebastian Giguere made 34 saves as the Colorado Avalanche shut out the
Pittsburgh Penguins to improve to 8-1-0 so far this season.
Gabriel Landeskog's second-period goal was enough to give the Avs the win
against the Penguins at Consol Energy Center.
Despite only having 14 shots in the match Colorado made the most of their
limited chances and proceeded to stop the potent Penguins forwards from scoring.
It was a game of missed opportunities for Pittsburgh as they were held
scoreless on no fewer than seven power-play opportunities thanks to Giguere's
Avalanche coach Patrick Roy said: "Your goalie needs to be your best
player in every situation, and Giguere was our best player."
With defeat the Penguins fall to 7-2-0 but still lead the Metropolitan
division while the Avalanche lead the Central division due to their impressive
start to the season.
The Avalanche face the Carolina Hurricanes in their next game to be played on Saturday.
