The draw was made on Monday to determine the matches for the European playoffs for the World Cup in Brazil next summer.
Greece drew Romania, Portugal will face Sweden, Ukraine meet France and Iceland were paired with Croatia. Greece are celebrating this draw. They wanted to dodge France and Sweden, and they managed to do it.
Romania are a tough team but they cannot be compared to France or Sweden. The road to Brazil is clear for Greece if they manage to stay focused and play up to their potential.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal will face Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Sweden for one position in the World Cup. It is a tight clash, but Portugal look to be the better of the two.
The third clash is between Ukraine and France. Franck Ribery and Karim Benzema will have to struggle against Ukraine, but I believe that France will be in Brazil.
The last pair of this knock out round are Iceland and Croatia. This clash is the most unpredictable one. Both Iceland and Croatia are very ambitious teams with great players like Luca Modric and Mario Mandzukic for Croatia, or Gylfi Sigurdsson and Eidhur Gudjohnsen for Iceland.
The clash is leaning towards Croatia and their more experienced team, but cold blooded Iceland are are not ones to be ruled out.
All four matches promise tight classes and emotional moments. What are your predictions? Mine are Greece, Portugal, France and Iceland. Make your own, and we will find out the answers late next month.
