Nemanja Vidic, who has been troubled by injury problems in recent years, is out of contract at the end of next season and Juventus are trying to lure him away from the reigning Premier League champions.

The Daily Express reported today that if Vidic does not sign a new contract by February, Juventus would be ready to step in and offer the player a deal to move to Italy.

However, it also says United manager David Moyes is keen to tie the player down to a new contract, as the Old Trafford defence continues to leak goals.

Additionally, Rio Ferdinand is seemingly in danger of losing his place to either Chris Smalling or Phil Jones, and Moyes would be keen for the back-four to be made up of both youth and experience.

The Red Devils have conceded nine goals this season, the most of any other top four rival, it is therefore clear that whilst Vidic's services are still required, the rest of defence is in need of some reinforcement. The club are reported to be looking at a number of targets.
