Chelsea are set to make a move for Atletico Madrid's in-form striker Diego Costa in the January transfer window, according to the Mirror.
Jose Mourinho has identified the 25-year-old as the man to fire Chelsea to Premier League glory this season - although the Blues are unlikely to pay the £35m fee that Atletico are demanding.
Costa scored 20 goals in 44 matches for Atleti last season, but the Brazilian-born striker has truly blossomed since the departure of Radamel Falcao.
Now leading the line in Diego Simeone's side, Costa has scored 12 goals in 12 matches this season, and currently leads the race for the Pichichi in La Liga after scoring 10 goals from Atletico's opening nine matches.
Costa's excellent form is one of the reasons why Atletico are currently sandwiched in between Barcelona and Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga table, having taken 24 points from a possible 27 at the start of the campaign.
But after Fernando Torres scored twice against Schalke in the Champions League last night, will Mourinho now have second thoughts about Costa?
