One of the main reasons for Barcelona's recent success has been due to La Masia graduates Xavi and Iniesta.
However with Xavi approaching his 34th birthday in January and Iniesta soon to turn 30, the midfielders will need replacing. According Mundo Deportivo, Wilshere is regarded as one of their top targets and impressed Barcelona scouts during trips over to England to tie up deals for former Gunners' Alex Song and Cesc Fabregas.
Due to the past history of selling stars to Barcelona, Arsene Wenger will not welcome any advances from the Catalan club especially as things are starting to look up for Arsenal. After signing Mesut Ozil in the summer, the Gunners currently reside at the top of the Premier League and their Champions League group dubbed the “Group of Death”.
Another midfielder on the shortlist is from La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid and Manchester United target Koke. The 21-year-old has impressed and has drawn comparisons to the man he could replace in the Barcelona team, Xavi. He also would command a less hefty due to the £16m release clause in his contract.
The third target is another Manchester United target and also an Arsenal target - Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.
The German international is reportedly looking to leave the Champions League finalists and is keen to move on. Barcelona are looking for potential January and summer moves for their targets and will certainly face an uphill task to convince Arsene Wenger to part with Jack Wilshere.
