Dana White revealed that former UFC Lightweight and Welterweight Champion B.J. Penn is almost on weight for his rubber match against Frankie Edgar.

It seemed that Penn, once regarded as one of MMA's top pound-for-pound fighters, was to retire completely from the sport. He was brutally beaten by Rory McDonald on his last outing and didn't fare much better the time before against Nick Diaz.

Although his wait has been questioned, the UFC President said at the post UFC 166 media scrum:

"First of all, everyone is questioning his weight? He's almost there now. Wait till you see how skinny he is, it's crazy. BJ is one of those guys, once he sets his mind to something this is what he's decided to do.

"He believes he's going to rip through these guys and win that title and I love that. That's what I want guys here for. That's why when the older guys try and come back, I ask 'why?' You're at this age, you've accomplished so many things, look what BJ Penn has accomplished. BJ Penn built the 155 pound division at a time when people used to go, 'Oh those guys are too small, we don't want to see the small guys fight. Those guys will never be a pay-per-view draw.' BJ was one of the biggest PPV draws in the UFC at the time."

It seems B.J. is taking this fight very seriously. Before being dethroned by Frankie Edgar as 155lbs champion, he looked unstoppable, defending the title three times.

However back-to-back losses to Edgar saw an unsuccessful move to Welterweight, where he went 1-2-1 with his only win against veteran Matt Hughes that came via a 21 second KO.

The 34-year-old coaches on The Ultimate Fighter Season 19 against Frankie Edgar before the two will meet for a third time at Featherweight.

It'll be interesting how the pair match up at the lighter weights and if B.J. Penn will come motivated to avenge one of his losses to Edgar.
