Chris Hughton spent a lot of money this summer, bringing
Ricky van Wolfswinkel, Nathan Redmond and Leroy Fer amongst others to Carrow
What he didn't do was buy a centre-back because in Sebastien Bassong the
Canaries have a strong, athletic, tough defender who deserves more than to find
himself in a relegation battle.
In the four games that the Frenchman missed last season, Norwich conceded 17 goals. A
Against his former club Tottenham last month, Bassong made 10 clearances as well as 2 blocks and 3 interceptions.
Apart from the numbers, there is the quality of Bassong’s replacements.
Michael Turner partners Bassong in Hughton’s first choice XI, with Daniel Ayala and Ryan Bennett in reserve.
