Tatsuya Kawajiri signs with the UFC
The Japanese star looks to make his debut on the Singapore card
Japanese star Tatsuya Kawajiri has reportedly signed a multi-fight contract with the UFC and is looking to make his debut at UFC Fight Night 34, that takes place in Singapore.
Kawajiri for a long time has been regarded as on the of best MMA fighters in the lighter divisions. His latest victory came on the DREAM 18 card when he defeated UFC veteran Michihero Omigawa via unanimous decision.
'The Crusher' has only ever fought on US soil once, in a TKO loss to Gilbert Melendez for the Strikeforce Lightweight title in 2011.
However since then the Japanese star has went 5-0, with four of those wins coming at 145 lbs.
He holds victories of Yves Edwards, JZ Cavalcante and most interestingly Josh Thompson who is challenging Anthony Pettis for the UFC Lightweight title in December.
Kawajiri's signing has not yet been confirmed by the UFC and is yet to have an opponent to mee on the card healined by Welterweight's Jake Ellenberger and Tarec Saffriene.
A good first opponent for Kawajiri should be someone ranked fairly highly so Clay Guida makes perfect sense.
