Real Madrid star and Manchester United target Sami Khedira has his eyes set on talks over a move to Chelsea, according to Spanish sources cited by the Daily Star.
26-year-old Khedira has been with the Spanish giants since moving from Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart during the summer of 2010 but speculation linking him with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu has dramatically intensified in recent months.
With Premier League title-chasing duo United and Chelsea both linked to his signature, previous reports have suggested that the German international has become disillusioned with life at Real - with Khedira reportedly believing that he was being made a scapegoat following the departure of controversial previous manager Jose Mourinho.
With Khedira's immediate future the subject of frequent rumour, it appears that if Mourinho may be in pole position to land his former player once again with those aforementioned sources cited by the Daily Star apparently claiming that he wants to talk with his former mentor over a potential switch to Stamford Bridge and that the Blues may have to spend a total of £40 million to secure their man.
If true, such a development would be presumably come as yet another huge blow for David Moyes, with the Scot already under pressure at Old Trafford following a wretched opening few months in the job.
Although the Red Devils' disappointing recent top-flight form has led to the majority of criticism levelled at him in recent weeks, Moyes was also widely lambasted after failing to secure permanent deals for a number of high-profile targets during the summer.
Losing out on yet another reported target - particularly to a Premier League title rival - could be potentially devastating.
