PFC Ludogorets Razgrad, the champions of Bulgaria, are in first place in group B with six points from two matches and goal difference of plus five.
They started their European campaign this season from the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round. After beating Slovan Bratislava with an aggregate scoreline of 4-2, they managed to eliminate the Serbian champions FK Partizan Belgarad winning at home and as visitors.
Their last obstacle before the group stage of the Champions League was Basel, but the semi-finalists in Europa League last year sealed the group stage appearance as they eased to a 6-2 victory on aggregate.
The team made its debut in the European competitions the last year as they were eliminated by Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round with a goal in the sixth minute of the additional time. In the group stage of the tournament Ludogorets have already won against PSV at Phillips Stadium with 2-0 and at home against Dinamo Zagreb with 3-0.
In fact, of the 24 teams new to the competition, just four – PFC Ludogorets Razgrad, Swansea City AFC, Eintracht Frankurt and Fiorentina – have claimed six points from their opening two fixtures. On Thursday, the Bulgarian side will face Chernomorets Odessa in Ukraine in attempt to record another victory in the competition.
This team has a lot of potential, players who are motivated to success in the European competitions and if they continue to play at their best, PFC Ludogorets Razgrad will definitely be one of the surprises in the competition this year.
