Arsenal and Chelsea face battle for Brazilian target

Published Add your comment

Chelsea and Arsenal are set to face competition from the continent to sign highly-rated Jorginho from Verona, according to talkSPORT.

The 21-year-old has been in scintillating form in the Serie A so far this campaign, netting five times in eight games, and has attracted the attention of a number of clubs.

Chelsea and Arsenal were expected to be the frontrunners for his signature but could now be rivalled by Italian giants Inter Milan, who also want to entice him away from Verona.

Jose Mourinho is particularly interested in the Brazilian youngster and reportedly sent scouts to watch him play during Verona's 3-2 victory over Parma at the weekend.

Jorginho scored a brace in that game and so it's highly unlikely the visiting scouts left with anything but stellar write-ups.

However Inter are now reportedly at the head of the queue, and preparing to bring in Jorginho on a deal worth around £8.5million.
