Chelsea & United set to miss out on Italian star

Manchester United and Chelsea are set to miss our on their target, Claudio Marchisio, after it was revealed that Monaco are set to bid £25million for his services, according to the Express.

United were linked with Marchisio for the majority of the transfer window, with Moyes keen to strengthen his midfield, and Jose Mourinho is a known admirer of the Italian.

However according to reports French giants Monaco want to continue their free-spending buy taking Marchisio from under the noses of any potential suitors, and are prepared to lodge a £25million offer to cement their interest.

Claudio Ranieri is believed to be a huge fan of Marchisio from his time in charge of Juventus and wants to bring the 27-year-old in to bolster his midfield options, with Geoffrey Kondogbia and Jeremy Toulalan impressing in the middle of the park so far.

If Marchisio does move then he will join the likes of Radamel Falcao and Joao Moutinho in the Monaco revolution, funded by mega rich Russian oligarch Dmitry Rybolovlev.
