Emmanuel Adebayor set for return

Published Add your comment

Tottenham outcast Emmanuel Adebayor is set to make a return to the Tottenham side as they take on Sheriff in the Europa League tomorrow night, reports The Metro

The Spurs striker, who has not featured for the club since pre-season, was expected to depart the club in the summer as he was heavily linked to Russian giants Zenit St Petersburg.

However, now the former Manchester City man looks set for a return to the squad as his manager Andre Villas-Boas has admitted he could be involved.

The Portuguese tactician told reporters: "There is a chance he could be involved but I’m not sure if he’s starting or not.

"Last season we wouldn’t rotate as much for this competition as we have so far. This is done because of the immense talent we have at our disposal.

"We can make six or seven changes now, which keeps the players fresh and motivated."

Both Roberto Soldado and Jermain Defoe are also in Villas-Boas' squad for the match in Moldova, so Adebayor has competition for a starting berth.

However the likes of Andros Townsend, Paulinho and Kyle Walker have been rested and left in London.

Spurs will be hoping for another three points in Europe as they look to continue their 100% record in Group K.
