It must be hard for Spurs fans to watch Champions League football this season as they have to endure another campaign in Europe's second-best tournament.

Whilst Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are playing the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, Spurs have been clocking up the air miles travelling to Georgia and Moldova to play second-rate opposition in a competition that their fans must hate by now.

However, with Spurs strengthening their squad this summer and having a large number of players on the books, it gives plenty of fringe players the chance to send a message to boss Andre Villas-Boas as to why they should be featuring every week in the Premier League.

The motivation for the fans on a Thursday night is that they hope to never come to these places again.

Whereas the motivation for the players is to improve their fitness and produce some impressive performances to give Villas-Boas a selection headache.
