Manchester City stars greeted by Spanish fans

Published Add your comment

Manchester City's stars had a welcome surprise as they arrived back at Manchester airport on Thursday morning.

After a tough test in Russia - where Manuel Pellegrini's side prevailed 2-1 over CSKA Moscow after goals from Sergio Aguero cancelled out Zoran Tosic's shock opener - the composed and experienced Chilean boss would have hoped for some support at the airport back home.

But what he certainly wouldn't have expected, one would not imagine was Real Sociedad fans turning up to congratulate his side.

The disgruntled Spaniards had watched their own Sociedad side fall agonisingly at Old Trafford, losing only 1-0 following an early own goal from Inigo Martinez. Sociedad had ample opportunities on the night, hitting the woodwork twice during 90 minutes in an uneven game that could have ended up going either way.

Over 6000 Sociedad fans had made the trip from Spain to support their side at Old Trafford, and despite losing, they got more than they bargained for from their trip following their chance meeting with Alvaro Negredo and co.
