Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest NBA players ever. Period. For ESPN to rank the Los Angelas legend 25th in the league is complete and utter disrespect. Maybe if Bryant was to lose a leg or an arm then he may be ranked 20 or under.
Many NBA athletes felt that Kobe should've been ranked higher so they took their frustration to Twitter. Brandon Rush tweeted "Kobe ranked #25 smh". Reggie Evans also took it to Twitter, saying " Kobe still TOP 3".
Now, we all know that Kobe Bryant is coming off an injury where he ruptured his Achilles tendon. But, this is Kobe Bryant we're talking about, arguably the toughest player in NBA history. Henry Abbott from ESPN tweeted "For the record, this year's #NBArank is specifically about expected performance in the upcoming season. Kobe's Achilles a big factor."
If the Achilles injury did actually play a part in the ranking then should Kobe even be in the top 25? I mean come on how much could a player do in less than half a season? Even if he is Kobe Bryant. If you're using Kobe's injury as an excuse he should be between 75-100, stick to your guns ESPN.
Rose suffered a similar injury last year but was still rated as the fifth best player, either the ESPN rating is too inconsistent, or they're just disrespecting Kobe. The whole top 50 ranking is very unrealistic. Kobe coming off a major injury is worse than John Wall but still better than Dirk Nowitzki, I think Kobe is still better than both of them.
Does anyone actually think that Joakim Noah, Roy Hibbert and John Wall are better than the Los Angeles Lakers' superstar? Would anyone rather start a team with any of those players for the 2013-14 campaign, even with Kobe coming off the injury?
The King himself, LeBron James also thinks ESPN is wrong. He sent out this tweet: "Do you agree that Kobe is only rank 25 among NBA players? If not, what rank should he be?"(He's top 5 for sure). #HOFer".
LeBron isn't Kobe's teammate and some may say they dislike each other, but what LeBron James is saying is the simple truth. Whoever follows the NBA ranks Kobe AT LEAST top 10.
For the record here are my top 10 players:
1. LeBron James
2. Kevin Durant
3. Chris Paul
4. Kobe Bryant
5. Carmelo Anthony
6. Derrick Rose
7. Russel Westbrook
8. Dwight Howard
9. James Harden
10. Kevin Love
Oh, would you look at that Kobe is checking in at number four and he deserves to be around that mark, love him or hate him, Kobe Bryant is an NBA great.
